Situation Overview
By now, a plot of land that was a grass field just 10 days ago–now hosted a vital medical center that provided life-saving care.
In their first week of service, their medical staff treated 550 patients, admitted 45 people for inpatient care, and performed 11 surgeries. Their DC-8 aircraft had transported over 200 tons of emergency relief supplies to the Bahamas where their teams and church partners assisted others with tarps, generators, solar lights, hygiene kits and blankets. With freshwater sources in many areas not safe for drinking, they made their two desalination units mobile by putting them on trucks to move from community to community and converting seawater into drinking water. So far, they’ve provided over 8,000 liters of clean water for the residents
