Situation Overview
Over the next few days the storm stalled, causing mass destruction particularly on Grand Bahama Island and neighboring Abaco Islands. Duane Sands, the Bahamas’ Minister of Health, called the devastation “unimaginable.”
Their helicopter and Cessna Caravan airplane, along with a local barge, ferried their emergency supplies and staff from their hub in Nassau to Grand Bahamas and Abaco Island, where the needs were urgent and overwhelming.
